The parallel lines were made by pulling
                  corregated cardboard apart.
           Giant letters were cut out.

The panel (also known as den-siding) was covered
with glue. Sand with dropped into the glue
to give it the texture I wanted. After the glue
dried, I painted the surface of the panel.

Next the big letters were glued to the panel.
The big letters were give one darker coat of
paint down in the grooves. When dry, a lighter,
brighter color was dabbed on top of the ridges.
After that was dry, the smaller letters were glued
on top of the big letters.
Once again, the small letters received a darker coat
of  paint down in the grooves. Later, a lighter,
brighter color was dabbed on the top ridges.

Den-siding is a great light-weight material to paint
on. At the time, I had a number of sheets to work on.
           It is flexible as well.
