Hope Brought To My Pain by Karl Marxhausen

" Hope - Brought To My Pain In The Flood Of 1993"
                        28.75" h x 35" w   acrylic on panel    february 2001

What do you see in this picture?

If I told you it was about  SUFFERING -
what would it mean to you?

If I told you it was about   PRAYER -
what would it mean to you now?

For me, these hands of pain draw daily strength
from the One who directs and grants hope
in the midst of unwelcome circumstances.
                                          A flame that is transparent.

This image is about my desparate prayers and His answer
to my deep needs - during the flood of 1993 in Carrollton,
Missouri. When the stress in the newspaper darkroom drove me
to my knees. Not a pleasant time. Jesus gave me what
I needed from moment to moment.
